Agra Precision Engineering Co. Ltd. was established in 1963
with the purpose of providing a specialist machining service
to the Motor Trade. The Company expanded and moved to its
present premises extending to 7800 square feet in 1980. Still
specialising in the motor trade the Company also undertakes
light engineering work to a variety of clients from textile
mills to oil rigs.
The Company are committed to maintaining an auditable quality
system that complies with ISO 9001:2008. Employees are
actively encouraged to suggest improvements to the Quality
System. It is mandatory for all employees to perform all work
in accordance with the Quality System.

The company was established in 1951
by Charles Fyda, in Banff, under the name Agra Motor
Engineers. |
| 1961 |
In 1961 John joined the company as a
16 years old apprentice. |
| 1963 |
In 1963 John moved to Dundee and
opened Agra Precision Engineering. |
| 1969 |
In 1969 John started racing modified
saloon hot hatch cars which was the start of Agra's
competition department. |
| 1974/75 |
Engine development started on Lotus twin
cams which were among the most successful engines of the
era. It soon became necessary for us to install dyno. During
this period the company campaigned a Lotus Elan, which was
the most successful of the era and the first development
engine on offer to customers. |

John moves into clubman's front engined
sports cars with Ford Pushrod engines. |
| 1980 |
Company moved to new premises, on Ure
Street. |
| 1980-81 |
Started metal spraying. |
| 1983 |
Heat treatment plant opened. |
| 1984 |
Started engineering work for offshore
companies which let to expansion of the workshop. |
| 1986 |
John entered Clubman's British Championships
and won first time. |
| 1990 |
Started overhauling cylinder heads for
offshore company. |
| 1994 |
Started quality assurance system. |
| Mid 90's |
Bought Dyno's to assist tuning with karts
and smaller output engines. |
| 1999 |
Started carrying out service work on
offshore gearboxes and crane gearboxes. |
| 2000 |
Bought over Gilchrist's and started
producing one off gears to order. The ISO 9001 was
introduced and we purchased a Sunned Surface Cutter to
cope with modern alloy heads. |

Re-started white metalling due to high
demand in vintage side. |
